Technology is only a problem if we use it improperly...

There seems to be a lot of talk in the media about technology being bad for our kids, and that we need to take technology out of our schools and learning environments.

This is more of a "scapegoat" exercise in the "top 50%" of parents and educators laying the blame on technology for their incompetence over the past decade. They are correct that technology has been bad for their kids, but the blame is on the adults in the room, not the kids, adults who have had no clue how to manage technology and use it for good.

The proper use of technology, starting in K-6, is absolutely critical to ensuring the future success of America. We need to lead the technology race with people who know how to use it for good. If we don't then we'll be controlled by people and countries who are using it to further their own selfish interests.

We then need to look at how restricting technology affects the "bottom 50%" of the population. These are the families who need a "leg up" - who we need to flourish if we're going to deliver a "prosperity renaissance" in America. Technology is their answer to breaking out of the poverty cycle they are in.

In order to get and keep the attention of the "bottom 50%" and scale that up, we need to use technology in the right way. This is the only hope of delivering the change that these families need - and our only hope of doing it on the massive scale that a country needs to significantly increase the prosperity of its citizens.

A kneejerk reaction to take technology away from our kids, not only harms them, but it impedes the progress of America and its ability to lead the world today and in the future.

A more calculated approach that uses technology for good, and integrates that technology with the real world, and teaches the upcoming generation to manage tech rather than letting it manage you, is the right solution for America and any of its allies.

We need to use technology for good.
